How does The-sandbox work?

The Sandbox metaverse is made up of 166,464 parcels called LANDs.
Technically speaking, a LAND is an NFT, a token that follows the ERC-721 standard.
It can be purchased on a marketplace, such as The Sandbox or OpenSea.
The dimensions of each parcel are 96*96*128.1 meters.
Several adjacent parcels can be combined to create « ESTATE » as follows:

  • Small ESTATE : 3*3, 9 LAND ;
  • Medium ESTATE: 6*6, 36 LAND;
  • Large ESTATE: 12*12, 144 LAND ;
  • X-Large ESTATE: 24*24, 576 LAND.

ESTATEs can be owned by several players at once, creating a DISTRICT.
By purchasing a plot in the metaverse, a player can develop his land by adding experiences.
For example, he can implant an avatar capable of walking, jumping, running and fighting.
The avatar can be customized in terms of helmet, arms, torso, legs and so on.
To customize your avatar, you need to buy ASSET tokens.
ASSETs are tokens built according to the ERC-1155 standard.
Another way to earn money is to rent out the SAND plot to people who will set up games.

What are The-sandbox tokens used for?

SAND is the platform’s native token.
It is an ERC-20 token, and runs on the Ethereum blockchain.
The SAND token is mainly used for :

  • Access to platform services.
    By holding SAND, the user can play the metavers game.
    They can use SAND tokens to buy ASSETS or LAND tokens.
    They can also buy equipment, customize their avatar, etc.
  • Participate in governance.
    The Sandbox operates on a DAO basis.
